Exploring Science Professional Development Workshop for Teachers
REGISTER BY MARCH 31 TO BE ENTERED IN AN "EARLY BIRD" DRAWING! WHAT? The Exploring Science Teacher Professional Workshop gives teachers at all grade levels the opportunity to tour science labs and explore current science research, materials and resources at the University of Wyoming. In addition, teachers will experience all 5 workshops from the Exploratorium's Institute for Inquiry. Using hands-on experiences and focused reflection, Institute for Inquiry® workshops give teachers a thorough grounding in the pedagogy and practice of science inquiry. Participants examine different ways of teaching hands-on science, explore the process skills of inquiry, engage in a full scientific inquiry, and consider ways to include inquiry in their own classrooms. In addition, teachers will have time to shift one of their own lessons to include more inquiry.
WHEN? August 2-6, 2010
WHERE? On the campus of the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
WHY? To enrich your teaching, and to earn either UW Outreach Credit or PTSB Credit. HOW MUCH? The entire cost of the workshop, materials, credit food, and lodging (in the dorms) will be paid for by the Science Posse.
